Are We Ruled By Radicals?… Progressive Mud Slinging Gets Bawdy

True Conservative Republicans adhere to the party platform and believe in principles like:

  • Limited government
  • Fiscal responsibility/Accountability
  • Lower taxes
  • Individual liberty
  • Free enterprise
  • Religious freedom

So when liberal Charlotte City Council members passe an ordinance allowing the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community to use the bathroom of their choice North Carolinians with common sense and decency got a little upset. And rightly so… what mom or dad wants some guy using the locker room with their teenage daughter? Using the LGBT reasoning/excuse is only a political ploy… a destructive TOOL because that’s their modus operandi.

outhouse

“The ‘LGBT excuse’ is simply a pry bar to open Pandora’s box.”

The NC General Assembly agreed and was called back in session to examine what Charlotte had done and passed House Bill 2.  Since then all the liberal media and rabid activists have been on the attack putting North Carolina in their cross-hairs. Much pressure has been put on the legislature and Governor Pat McCrory to reverse the law. The liberal progressive left is using as a campaign tool against Governor McCrory.  The liberal way is to ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK! no matter the excuse.  Their vitriolic behavior is sickening!… possibly a result of bad parenting or the lack of it. racist

The LGBT community makes up only a small fraction of a percentage of the general population in North Carolina.  Charlotte City Council passed a local law/ordinance that allowed this minute percentage of individuals to control bathroom practices for the overwhelming majority. We’re not sure how the LGBT community has gotten by all these years without walking into the wrong bathroom and causing problems, but the NC Legislature made it clear bathroom and locker room gender blender behavior won’t happen in Charlotte or any NC town without a trip to jail. Hats off to them!

NC Attorney General Roy Cooper is sitting on the sidelines letting these mindless drones do his work.  Roy Cooper has refused to do his job defending North Carolina against frivolous lawsuits.  He has refused to defend North Carolina and our legislative stances against Same-sex marriage, Illegal Immigration, Syrian Refugees, gun bans and violation of our 2nd Amendment rights, Voter ID law, and NOW THIS!  North Carolinians have shelled out millions in tax dollars to hire outside legal council to do Roy’s JOB.

Screen-Shot-2016-04-05-at-8.46.01-AM-200x200Now he wants to be your Governor?

North Carolina values ARE NOT synonymous with Roy Cooper’s values or his followers.  He and his buddies are simply using that 0.03% of the population to draw attention away from the positive things our Republican led legislature has accomplished. They play dirty and hit hard. It’s all straight out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals” playbook…. you know, the rules Hillary and her cronies play by….

“Rule 12 –  Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

rules for radicals

Our message is clear. They can’t hurt you…. they can only throw mud at you. Progressives are of the entitlement mentality, hate individual liberty, capitalism and anything remotely resembling WORK. They focus on “What can I get for free? The government and all those rich folks OWE me! My sexuality and free health care is more important than your religious expression. ” You and I owe nothing to anyone.

The majority of us worked for what we have. The government will continue to tax, spend, regulate and give our earnings away via miserable bureaucrats and “occupiers” like the Charlotte City Council and AG Roy Cooper… as long as WE allow it. Enough already! Time to put your foot down. We won’t let this cancer continue to erode our communities, state and nation.  Stand against this immorality and fascist rule.  Fight for your children’s future!

30 Pieces Of Silver

We are republishing last week’s February 28th, 2016 column originally published in the Kinston Free Press which highlights the difference between the Democrat Party Platform and the Republican Party Platform.  Both publish their Platforms online so it should be no secret but many do not know where their party stands on the issues. It’s intent was a gut check…. what do you stand for?
 fighting mascots
It is my belief that we should should associate ourselves with and register with the political party that most closely resembles our core values. I am Pro-life, believe in limited government, capitalism, lower taxes, preservation of the 1st and 2nd amendment, and the right for every American to work hard and keep what they earn. More government means less liberty. I am a Republican. I associate with every word in the Republican Platform.
Truth Twain
You may call yourself a “moderate thinking” Democrat but if you support the Democrat Party and vote Democrat you support that Platform.
It doesn’t matter what you call yourself.  Just align yourself with the Party that most closely resembles your values.

Lenoir County is fairly conservative even though seventy-six percent of the population align themselves with the liberal Democratic party. You have heard the false narrative, “There’s not much difference between the Democrats and Republicans.” There may be politicians on both sides of the fence that will sell themselves for “thirty pieces of silver.” However, there are many more elected officials ethically bound to do the “will of the people.” Party platforms of Democrats and Republicans contrast sharply.

On abortion, Democrats believe a woman should have the “right to choose” and have taxpayer-funded abortions on demand. Republicans believe the unborn are human beings with rights and oppose partial birth and taxpayer-funded abortions as Planned Parenthood provides. Over one million children are slaughtered through abortion each year in the United States.

On gun control, Democrats do not honor the Second Amendment but believe more regulation is needed to “control” gun sales. Republicans understand the Second Amendment is designed to protect our First Amendment rights to include freedom of religion, freedom of speech and of the press, to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Over-regulating weapons infringes on our God-given right to defend ourselves and our families. In the U.S., around eight thousand people per year die by gunfire, yet one million children are murdered through abortion. Gun control is not about saving lives, it is only about control as the numbers prove.

On the economy, Democrats believe government regulation is necessary to “level the playing field,” stifling growth with taxation in the process. Republicans believe in promoting free markets to produce more growth, jobs and a higher standard of living.

On welfare, Democrats believe welfare is necessary to protect the poor. Republicans believe it is more compassionate and effective to encourage self-reliance. The welfare system enslaves minorities, is highly abused and creates a generational cycle of dependency.

On education, Democrats are against parental choice and believe in increased tax funding for public education. Republicans believe parents should have the right to choose a charter school or private school education. Federal overreach with intrusive agendas like “Common Core” only rob students of their critical thinking skills while taking parents out of the equation. Our children are not property of the state.

On immigration, Democrats believe in blanket amnesty and funding for higher education of illegal aliens who came here as children. Republicans believe in legal immigration only, oppose amnesty and support increased border security. Our borders are a national security issue the current administration refuses to effectively address.

On taxes, Democrats believe in raising taxes on wealthy Americans to support a more intrusive over-regulating government. Republicans promote lower taxes, smaller government, and believe in free market capitalism. Republicans understand higher taxes and more regulations put a stranglehold on economic growth.

On healthcare, Democrats believe government should control all aspects of healthcare while Republicans understand socialized medicine results in high costs and poor quality healthcare. It is not the role of the government to mandate how the private sector delivers medical treatment.

On global warming, Democrats theorize the earth is heating rapidly caused by the burning of fossil fuels like oil and coal. Consequently they have introduced “green energy” mandates which drive up fuel prices. Republicans understand the heating and cooling of the earth is a natural process. Regulating carbon will not help the environment and will only increase fuel costs.

On religion, Democrats believe all references of God in public and government spaces should be removed. Republicans understand our Constitution affords all Americans freedom Of religion, not freedom From religion.

On same-sex marriage, Democrats believe this should be legal. Republicans oppose same-sex marriage and believe marriage should be between one man and one woman.

These are only a few core beliefs found in each party’s platform. You should align yourself with those core beliefs which most closely reflect your political beliefs. One-party rule has hurt Lenoir County for the last century and a half. Are you surprised you have been honoring a political party that goes against your religious, moral or ethical convictions? Consider supporting a more balanced political landscape by registering and voting Republican.

Nepotism Defeated ~ Now On To The Real Issues Facing Kinston

Residents of Kinston scored a big WIN Monday night, February 15th, when the Kinston City Council voted unanimously to reverse the September 8th Nepotism Policy Amendment. The 2015 “Amendment” gave the green light for family of City Council members, including the Mayor, to be hired on with the City of Kinston.

The “Amendment” was force fed to the public by three sitting Council members even though resident and business owner, Logan Thurman presented a petition with over 300 signatures opposing the change. The NAACP voiced concern publicly, as did the Daily News Fix. Even so, the measure passed on September 8th and became a contentious campaign issue.

See last night’s victory video HERE

For the Daily News Fix it’s on to bigger and better things, more important issues, like getting residents gainfully employed and off welfare and food stamps, shutting down public housing in Kinston and moving residents into affordable housing owned and operated by the private sector.

The Welfare Model was designed as a “hand up”, not a way of life.  But it is now used by Democrats to control minorities and gain votes. Ironically in a town like Kinston where 69% of the population is black, Democrats retain around 86% of the vote. Think about that for a minute…… minorities are enslaved by this model while their personal liberty is stifled.

hand up

The City of Kinston has never in its history elected a Republican to City Council. The first Republican Mayor, BJ Murphy, was elected 6 years ago and now in his second term.

Even though there has never been a Republican on City Council,  Republicans are consistently targeted for any problems Kinston might have.  Let that sink in for a minute…..   Non-partisan elections were “pre-approved” in 2013 by USDOJ after a US Supreme Court lawsuit for the reversal of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Non-partisan elections will help in a town the size of Kinston if we focus less on RACE and more on electing effective diverse representation.  This will only be breached through education and resolve.  During the 2015 municipal election cycle, for the first time ever, the NAACP and the Lenoir County Democrat Party did not endorse candidates in the non-partisan contest. That’s a step in the right direction.

The Nepotism Policy Amendment was the non-partisan issue that created a unique cohesiveness.  As a result, the election was issue-based whereby qualified and effective candidates were elected to office.

Time will tell as to the effectiveness of this new team.  We are delighted they kept their campaign promises to reverse this bad policy.  Now it’s up to you, the residents of Kinston, whether you pay property taxes or not, to get involved in the process.

  • Go to City Council meetings
  • Apply to sit on a Board or Commission (an eye opening experience)
  • Contact your Council members and ask questions on the issues important to you

NOW, let’s get to work!

A “Free” Education On Losing Our Liberty

The leftist progressives and their POTUS Puppet, B. Hussein Obama, are gearing up in a big way for 2016.  Mid January you can expect a few major assaults our 2nd Amendment rights.

Emperor Obama will issue a decree across the lands (by executive order) that everyone “in the business” of selling firearms will be required to perform background checks. Federally licensed dealers are already required to run background checks through the FBI….. but what if Johnny wants to sell Sally a handgun or by some other private means?  Roughly 40% of the guns in America are currently bought and sold privately.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton is all for making it more difficult to exercise our 2nd Amendment rights. Obama aims to go out with a bang and push this agenda to the hilt. He’ll be remembered as not only the worst President fiscally, driving our national debt over 19 Trillion before leaving office, but also the most abusive when it comes to trashing our Constitutional rights.  He just doesn’t respect the our founding documents, the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND.  He has no regard whatsoever for the citizens of the United States….. none. The National Rifle Association (NRA) believes that this or any move to further the gun control effort will eventually lead to confiscation or banning certain weapons and ammunition.

But anyone paying attention is aware of the invalidity of this liberal argument for gun control. Taking guns from law-abiding citizens doesn’t curb crime.  It makes us more vulnerable. We have posted statistic after statistic to prove death by firearm is pretty low on the totem pole of societal problems. The key word in gun control is CONTROL.

Take away the common man’s means of protection and the government has complete control of the common man.  And that’s what this is really about.

California just passed legislation that will go into effect January 1, 2016 making it very easy to seize your guns by court order.  Here’s a likely scenario:

Kevin owns some weapons. His teenage son wants to borrow the car and Kevin says no since he’s failing High School and should be home studying. Kevin’s son decides to get back at Dad because the LAW (see here) now gives him that latitude.  He calls the cops and says, “I feel unsafe…. my Dad has a gun in the house and…. I feel unsafe”.  So a judge authorizes law enforcement to confiscate all Kevin’s weapons for a minimum of 21 days.  Kevin is treated like a criminal instead of a conscientious parent. He is forced to spend a lot of money on attorney fees to defend himself and restore his good name.  The value of the guns confiscated is less than the cost of fighting the State. The State wins and the guns are destroyed.

Now back to the Executive Order…….One problem with this whole thing is that Obama’s Executive Order isn’t really law at all. Congress makes law, not the POTUS.  The second problem is the majority of our society has no interest or concern as to what the POTUS can or can’t do…… as long as they keep getting “Free Stuff”.  Many of us know there is no such thing as FREE STUFF and we DO CARE about our rights being taken.  The third problem is that Hillary is going to win the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. She’s coming after our guns because, as mentioned, she will then have  total control over our behavior and our 1st Amendment rights.

We live in a society where the majority of the population are TAKERS NOT GIVERS. We have become slowly conditioned to accept the bastardization of this great Nation our fathers and grandfathers fought for so we might be free.  We really don’t know what it’s like to have our Liberty taken away from us.  Remember, Liberty comes from God, not man.  Be prepared to fight to keep it.  If Hillary Clinton wins in 2016 or Congress goes to the Democrats we’ll all get a FREE EDUCATION on the LOSS OF PERSONAL LIBERTY!

Becoming The Protectors

dailynewsfix imageWe just caught a portion of a live commentary on Fox News by Judge Jennine Perino after exiting the movie “The Mocking Jay, Part 2”. The movie was pretty good.

If your not familiar with this series, “The Hunger Games”, it involves a struggle for freedom in a futuristic setting in the wake of a dictatorship. Great movies. Check them out.

Anyway, the Judge was laying it down, “shucking some corn” as my friend Jackie would say.  I like her, generally, but this time she was playing on ignorance and fear when it comes to protecting ourselves from terrorist attacks like ISIS.

What I took exception to was her reactionary suggestion that we further “weaponize our police” to better protect all of us. Ummm…. Red Flag sister, er… Judge!

She alluded to the San Bernardino massacre that was obviously a radical Islamic terror attack. She thinks they were running around like keystone cops. Maybe they were but the Militarization of our police force as a reaction to these ISIS cues plays right into the progressive liberal “gun control” narrative. Are we really that scared and stupid?

This administration is looking to capitalize on incidents like San Bernadino. We have Muslims in the Whitehouse like Valerie Jarret (she runs things, not Barry) that capitalize on your fear.

Right after militarization of our police is confiscation of our weapons. You say no?  We say gun confiscation is eminent if we allow government to grow and our Constitutional 2nd Amendment rights to erode. The 2nd Amendment protects us from a rogue government. It keeps our 1st Amendment rights intact, especially our right to religious freedoms.

Bottom line ~ Our right to protect ourselves and our family is inalienable, of God not man. It shall not be infringed.

We don’t need to further weaponize police in this country.  We need to protect our borders, reject Syrian refugees, and teach our kids and family how to be proficient with a weapon, basic self defense. Teach them how not to be victims.

We must dilute our need to be protected by becoming the protectors.

Councilman Lashes Out At Concerned Citizens/Mayor

Back of TCouncilman Wynn Whittington penned a scalding personal attack on the President of the Kinston-Lenoir County Chapter of the NAACP published in the Kinston Free Press (read his words) along with attacks on the Mayor of Kinston, local petition organizer Logan Thurman, and of course quite a bit about me.   Mr. Whittington accuses those questioning his tactics of having too much “free time”.   In his musings, I appear to be the main target and one of those “people who can’t seem to let it go”.   Well, there is plenty of reason we must not “let it go”.

Mayor Murphy hasn’t let it go either, decided he wasn’t going to take the attacks lightly, and posted his opinion and video on his website. Read and view HERE.

Also, before I go too far, VOTE tomorrow, November 3rd.  One Vote is all you need for Steve Ragan.  You can do that, just one vote…..Steve has fought this nepotism deal from the beginning.

Mr. Whittington has been silent on the public dis-rest over his own policy change… until two days before the municipal election.  Conveniently and for political reasons he spoke out clearly in an attempt to moot the argument against the policy change.  The Nepotism Policy Amendment allows family members of City Council members and the Mayor to be employed by the City, breaking a long standing common sense conservative policy against nepotism in the workplace.  Since Councilmember Kelly Jarman is the only incumbent and candidate in the race who supports the Nepotism Policy Amendment, Mr. Whittington could not have timed his “guest column” in a more overtly subversive manner.  The regularly planned City Council meeting for Monday, November 2nd (the night before election day) was cancelled due to lack of agenda items.  So the public has zero opportunity to address Whittington’s comment for comments.  Well done.

Mr. Whittington speaks of all the successes we are having as a City.  He also recognizes the problems we face.   He mentions crime, gang violence, and high utility rates and attempts to minimize the Nepotism issue by stating,  “…the recent nepotism policy debate has garnered more media coverage than the sale of power assets and related rate decreases, the possibility of bringing baseball back to Kinston, and quite possibly the West Pharmaceutical Disaster in 2003″. Uhhh… there’s a reason for that, W!

He also stated that… “the nepotism policy didn’t make the cut in the recent Land Use Plan Study”. No it didn’t because Nepotism policies aren’t part of any Land Use Plan.  As Chairman of the Kinston Planning Board, my fellow planning board members and I reviewed the Land Use Plan (checked it for nepotism) and made recommendations to City Council.  He also stated candidate Gordon Vermillion didn’t agree on the nepotism issue.  What he failed to mention is that of the eight(8) candidates running for three(3) seats on City Council only candidate and fellow educator Kelly Jarman agrees with his views on nepotism since she was one of three votes that amended the policy.  The other seven(7) have agreed to rescind this troubled Amendment if elected. See this VIDEO.

And this quote by Whittington is only confirms that his disdain and lack of respect for public opinion…

“At the recent council candidate forum hosted by the local chapter of the NAACP, each candidate was asked three questions. The very first one was about the nepotism policy. Are you kidding me? Not one question focused on crime, specifically black on black crime!”

Mr. Whittington makes multiple moot points in order to justify his unpopular actions.  His arrogant elitist attitude and obvious disregard for the residents of Kinston are disrespectful to say the least.  In one failed swoop, he insulted the President of the NAACP, two concerned citizens who were exercising their right to redress government, and the Mayor of Kinston because they just “can’t seem to let it go”.

The nepotism issue arose from Mr. Whittington’s line of questioning in City Council surrounding the fact his brother could not be hired because of he was elected to Council.  With very little discussion and no public input Whittington brought a motion to amend the Nepotism Policy.   A few weeks later the amendment was ratified.  He knows, as does Kelly Jarman, that nothing good can come from this amendment.

Allow me Educate the “Educators”……The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America states,

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

So in reading Mr. Whittington’s column I find it interesting that almost every word is an attempt to stifle our First Amendment rights.  According to him we should all just trust in his wisdom, shut up, sit down and forget about redressing our grievances because he doesn’t want to hear it.  End of conversation.

From Thomas Paine’s “American Crisis” these words were read aloud on December 23, 1776 to the Continental Army as a rally cry prior to the Battle of Trenton:

“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

This issue will not go away.  If the voices of the people can be shut down “just like that”, what’s next?  We must be vigilant.  Is it obvious yet that We the People must be the guardians of liberty? That the intent of government, including elected officials, is to serve the people?  It is NOT the intent that WE should serve government.

“Never surrender your rights, never give up, never shut, and keep getting up!” ~ John Nix and the Daily News Fix

Keep Calm… and Sign the Petition!

Some of you read my last blog on August 13th entitled “City Nepotism Policy Up For Debate” regarding the City Council pushing for an amendment to their current Nepotism policy.  The amendment, if passed, will allow family members of City Council members and the Mayor to work for City government, so long as there is no direct or indirect reporting relationship.  Indirect reporting? That’s pretty much impossible to pull off.  Supervisors, department heads and others will be extra cautious when dealing with family members of elected leadership.

Nepotism policies have been around for ages.  These policies safeguard against favoritism, cronyism and unfair work practices regarding hiring, firing and promotion of employees,  We don’t think it’s a good idea to change a policy on a whim.  In this case ONE Councilman brought the idea for the amendment to City Council stating his relative (brother) applied for a job with the City of Kinston and was denied due to the Nepotism policy, albeit he may have not been the most qualified.  The current Nepotism policy has been an accepted fact for decades but this ONE Councilman decided it may be “unfair”, that maybe more highly qualified employees could be had if WE amended the policy to allow family.  The idea was put into the form of a motion August 3rd and on August 17th passed the first reading in a 3-2 vote.  You can see the amendment HERE.  Read my Kinston Free Press column HERE.  Read the Kinston Free Press post-Council meeting article HERE.

The good news is there must be a second reading at the September 8th meeting (5:30PM).

Some folks aren’t taking this lying down.  Sources tell me there have been multiple call to Councilman Joe Tyson, as well as, emails.  Mr. Tyson was the swing vote.  This is a nonpartisan issue.  Why wouldn’t our residents rise up?  You can write your council members and tell them what you think at council@ci.kinston.nc.us

You can also call the City Clerk at 252-939-3115 and ask for specific contact information. This is your town.  If this gripes you, don’t be afraid to speak up.  Otherwise, the second reading will pass untested.

And finally, Logan Thurman, a local businessman has started an online petition.  Hats off to this gentleman.  You may go to the link, read the conditions, and sign the petition adding your name to the growing number that are fed up with this action.

Here it is: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/prevent-the-city-of-kinston-from-changing-the-nepotism-policy.html

Local Politics Affect Us The Most

Two weeks ago, my wife, Michele was elected to Vice-Chairman of the NC Republican Party. That was on Saturday.  On Monday, I was elected as Lenoir County Republican Party Chairman.  This means that I will focus almost totally on County issues when I blog on the Daily News Fix.  And be assured the focus will be on factual news, perhaps some items you won’t see in the local newspaper, televised or radio media.

I’ve stressed repetitively in the Daily News Fix the significance local activism plays.  The building blocks for liberty and freedom are right here in our own backyard.  If you don’t stay informed, you lose and so do our kids.  All the more reason to attend your Lenoir County Commissioner meetings.  These public servants meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 9am and 5pm respectively.  The 5pm meeting was recently moved for accessibility.  Recently, there was a peaked interest in how our Commissioners were allocating money to the local school system.  People were fired up!  Why does it take someone messing with your kids to spark this kind of reaction?  Attend a few meetings and witness exactly how your dollars are allocated.

City Council meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm and 5:30pm respectively.  Honestly, once you read it in the newspaper, it’s too late.  You have to get ahead of the game and be involved to make a real impact.  Recent decisions regarding 3% pay raises and $1000 bonuses on the back of a 3% garbage service rate increase confuse and frustrate many.  There are questions that should be asked but who will confront a Council that may at times seem to have little regard for the taxpayer…..especially with a dying tax base.  So inform yourselves and ask the questions.  I’ll give you all the facts and figures I can muster.

This is a municipal election year and a very important one.  Three (3) City Council seats are up for grabs.  Kinston has made progress in many areas.  Our downtown has made remarkable progress due in part to a few big investors, the historic preservation tax credit program, the opening of the CSS Neuse Interpretive Center and of course, the replica CSS Neuse II.  But we have many hurdles to cross and we won’t do it until our tax base increases.

You’ll see some eager candidates emerging in the next few months.  I encourage you to be open-minded, listen to their ideas, and remember that fiscal conservatism is the key element in turning this town and county around.   Lenoir County is a Tier 1 county wherein over half the residents qualify for federal subsidies of some type.  We must realize that services cost money and money comes from the taxpayer.  We must also elect three(3) new City Council representatives with the integrity, backbone, and foresight to apply time honored fiscal principles.

John C. Nix ~ Chairman, Lenoir County GOP Chairman
